Big thanks to Luigino Gigante for chatting with me on camera. He is the owner of WayPoint Cafe NYC and has an impressive amount of knowledge about the history of the competitive gaming scene. New York is home to many cafes for us to get our caffeine fix but this is the first one dedicated to eSports.
The cafe has been open for a few months and is quickly becoming a hot spot for gamers. Just like a normal internet cafe, You can pay to use one of the 30 desktops for an hour or for a day. All of the gaming PCs are loaded with the popular games like Dota 2, Street Fighter, League of Legends, and more. There is also a private room dedicated to streaming. Be sure to check it out if you happen to be on the lower east side.
Where is it located?
WayPoint Cafe NYC is Located at 65 Ludlow Street between Broom and Grand.
